Exploring Old Temples in Yogjakarta : Candi Ijo


So many tourists visited of famous temples: Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko temples. In fact, they missed out another interesting temple in the surrounding area called Candi Ijo or Ijo Temple. Ijo Temple is also deserved a visit. 

Ijo Temple is a Hindu-style temple complex, located 4 kilometers southeast of Ratu Boko Temple or approximately 18 kilometers east of Yogyakarta city. This temple is estimated to had been built between the period of the 10th century until the 11th century during the era of the Mataram Medang period.

Interestingly Ijo Temple is on a hill called Bukit Ijo or Ijo Hill located at an altitude of 375 meters above sea level (msl) making it the highest temple in Yogyakarta, so as called Ijo Temple.  when visiting the temple, you will have a panoramic view of Jogjakarta city and the best place for Sunset watching.
