Let's Sandboarding at Gumuk Pasir in Parangtritis, DIY Yogyakarta.

Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo, Parangtritis, DIY Yogyakarta.
Gumuk Pasir, or Sand dunes, is one of natural phenomena found on the coast of Parangtritis and Parangkusumo (coastal dunes). Besides Vietnam and Philippine, Indonesia is one of three countries in the South East Asia that has a similar coastal sand dune phenomenon (barchan type). However, the natural phenomenon in Parangtritis  is a rare one in Asia considering the distinctive climate it has compare to the other two. (https://pgsp.big.go.id/ternyata-gumuk-pasir-langka/)

Now, the natural tourist attraction is crowded with tourists on holidays riding sand boards. Sandboarding is an extreme sport similar to snowboarding. If snowboarding slides in snow-covered mountainous areas, this activity is carried out on a sandbar. Although sand dunes are scattered in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, only Parangkusumo Sand Dunes is the location of sand boarding..

Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is located about 30 kilometers from Malioboro, Yogyakarta. The tourist location is located in the area of Jl. Parangkusumo Beach, Grogol 10, Parangtritis Beach, Kec. Kretek, Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region. The distance to Parangkusumo Gumuk Pasir is about 30 kilometers with a travel time of about 50 minutes from downtown Yogyakarta.

The access to Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is quite easy. From the city of Yogyakarta we can take to the south or towards Parangtritis beach, then after meeting the retribution gate before the gate, turn right and can follow the direction of the road directions that lead to the location.

To enter the Parangkusumo Gumuk Pasir tour, visitors will be charged a retribution fee of IDR 10,000. Visitors who want to try skating on the sand can rent a sledboard and safety guard for Rp.70,000.
