YAI Kulon Progo: A Spectacular Airport in the Special Territory of Yogyakarta (DIY).

As a favorite tourist destination next to Bali, Yogyakarta is now ready to welcome more tourists with the newly operasion of international airport in this special territory of Indonesia. Presiden Joko Widodo, on Augus 28, 2020 officially opened this airport for air transport of domestic and International passangers to and from Yogyakarta. YAI can accomodate 18 millions passangers per year to campared to Adi Sucipto International Airport only 1.8 millions.  With the openning of YAI, the government expects an influx of tourists into this tourism area in the coming years after the pandemic of Covid-19 is over.

YAI is considered as the most outstanding airport in Indonesia. Joko Widodo, in his inaugural speech, said that YAI is now the best airport in Indonesia. He praised the completion of  the airport construction which took only twenty months.Besides, the architecture and design also combined modern and Javaness culture. He credited the accomplishment to the involvement of Sultan Hamengku Buwono X. 
 
YAI has a number of distinguishing features President Joko Widodo proud of.  The airport sits on an area 600 hectares of land to allow the airport to have a terminal area of 210,000 square meters. In addition, the airport has a hangar covering an area of 371,125 square meters which is planned to be able to accommodate up to 28 aircraft. Its runway also takes 3,250 m, suffice to  accommodate wide-body aircraft, such as  Boeing 777, Boeing 747,and Airbus 380.
 
Besides, YIA is also able to cope with natural disaster.  The newly operation YIA Airport is earthquake resistant up to 8.8 on the Richter scale and can withstand tsunami waves up to a height of 12 meters. Yogyakarta (YIA) is the only airport in Indonesia that is equipped with a tsunami early warning system.Yogyakarta International Airport tsunami early warning system is connected to a network of earthquake sensors, with 372 sensors installed throughout Indonesia (www.Kompas.com)

Historical Buildings and Sites in Jakarta: Menara Syahbandar.

Syahbandar Menara Jakarta was built around 1839 and previously called Uitkijk or Uitkijk Post, once the watchtower for vessels entering and leaving Batavia and as a tax collector's office for goods unloaded at the port of Sunda Kelapa. Its function as a control tower terminated after 1886, when the port of Tanjung Priok was opened. The tower  actually occupies the former bastion (camp) Culemborg. The bastion was made of rock in 1645, the fortifications, part of the wall around the city of Batavia to care for the mouth of the Ciliwung River, Warehouse pepper, and Shipyard. The building of Syahbandar Tower has a dimension of 4 x 8 meters high and 12 meters. Jakarta Syahbandar tower has three rooms, namely on the ground floor, in the central part measuring 6 × 7 meters, and the top which serves as a viewing room with four windows.
