Palembang City has shown its readiness to welcome tourists by launching the Calendar of Charming Events Palembang, which will target 2.2 million tourists or tourists visiting Palembang City in 2023.
This will be supported by 107 events in Palembang's Calendar of Charming Events which will be held.Whether it's local, national, or scale events to achieve this target.The Head of the Palembang City Tourism Office, Kgs Sulaiman Amin, confirmed this.
He said, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism industry and creative economy sector in 2023 would become the momentum for tourism to rise.Last year, the music industry sector and the creative economy of Palembang City have experienced improvements.
Namely, the level of tourist arrivals last year was 1.5 million.But tourists coming to Metropolis are only limited to domestic tourists, and there are no foreign tourists yet.
This year, with a target of 2.2 million tourist arrivals, apart from domestic tourists who visit Palembang on average," he hoped during a press conference at The Zuri Hotel, Monday 13 February 2023.
Foreign tourists, he continued, are expected to meet our target quota considering that there will be international events such as the U-20 World Cup which will be held in Palembang.According to him, this year foreign tourist visits have seen the holding of the Cap Go Meh event.
Throughout the activity, foreign tourists from Malaysia to China visited Pulo Kemaro Palembang."Our record is that from this event we have 100 thousand tourists, including from abroad," he said.
As there are no more restrictions and PPKM in Indonesia, it is also hoped that this will trigger tourists to come to the city of Palembang. "Last year, from our experience there were no foreign tourists to Palembang because there were still a number of restrictions, PPKM, and flights," he explained.
Furthermore, the Palembang City Tourism Office will launch the Calendar of Charming Events Palembang, Tuesday, 14 February 2023."With the Pentahelix synergy, we want to increase tourist visits to the city of Palembang, including the Calendar of Charming Events Palembang 2023, which has 107 events," he said.
Of the 107 events, Palembang has the top 10 events, namely Cap Go Meh, Ziara Kubro, FIFA World Cup U-20, Sriwijaya Expo, Palembang Heritage Run, Sriwijaya Festival, Palembang Single Girl, Palembang Expo, South Sumatra Traditional Week and Traditional Bidar.
With efforts to restore the creative economy tourism sector in Palembang City, it will have an impact on increasing PAD Palembang City.
With this sector moving, all sectors of the tourism industry and the economy will also be affected. "Palembang is also trying to increase the length of stay of tourists for 2 days and 3 nights from before so that it has an impact on economic growth," he explained.
Through the promotion of tourism and the creative economy, including the Calendar of Charming Events, Palembang can improve all of this, including the pempek brought by tourists outside Palembang.
