Visit The Draw Bridge " Kota Intan" in Jakarta Kota.

Kota Intan Bridge was built in 1628 by VOC ; thereafter several name changes. The name of Engelse Brug  was given as the bridge connected the Dutch Fort and England Fort, located at Kali Besar (Great River). The bridge the was broken as a result of Banten and Mataram attacked Batavia Castle 1628 and 1629. It was rebuilt in 1630 by the Dutch and known as De Hoender Pasabrug (CHicken Market Bridge) because it was close to chicken market. Kota Intan was the last name. It is assumed the name relates to its location which was close to one of Batavia Castle bastion Named Bastion Diamant (Intan-Diamant-Diamond). In 1938, the bridge was reconstructed to a drawbridge so the boats can pass and to prevent flooding which often happened. The shape and style was not changed but the name changed to Opshalbrug Juliana or Juliana Benhard. This drawbridge was only kind of remainder of that kind that the Dutch had ever built.

Exhibition on "Ulos" at Textile Museum, Jakarta

If you want to admire the beauty of traditional hand woven fabrics, "Ulos" from Batak ethnic  in North Sumatra, then come to Textile Musem in Jakarta. "Ulos" exhibition is on now from September 20 to October 7, 2018 at Textile Museum with theme " Ulos, Hangoluan & Tondi". Hangoluam means life and Yondi means soul meaning that Ulos is the life as well as the soul of Batak society. The exhibition is presented by Del and Tobatenun Foundation supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The items on display are a private collection of Devi Pandjaitan with Kerri Na Basaria. Ondel Ondel, The Icon of Jakarta City.

In Jakarta, Ondel Ondel is a popular art performance of original ethnic of Jakarta, Betawi. Ondel Ondel is characterized a display of  paired giant dolls -male and female- made of woven bamboos with a height of 2.5 meters and a diameter of 80 cm and accompanied by musics. The doll is colorfully painted with the male face in red while the female in white or yellow. Like humans, Ondel Ondel also has sex. Not difficult to distinguish male and female Ondel Ondel. Normally, the face of male Ondel Ondel will be painted in red. Not only that, his eyes are made bulging, coupled with a mustache and arrogant smirk. Ereveld Ancol is a Dutch cemetery for military and civilian residents of the Netherlands and a few pe Indonesians who have died in the Second World War, especially during an attack by the Japanese and the Dutch East Indies during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia, either in battle or from execution the Japanese.  Ereveld Ancol is one of two ereveld ("field of honor" in Dutch) is located in Jakarta with Ereveld Menteng Pulo in Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta. Having  successful defending the province of Friesland danGroningen of the Prussian attack. , on January 28, 1807 at the suggestion of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Daendles was sent to the Dutch East Indies as the 36th Governor-General. Daendels was assigned mainly to protect the island of Java from the attack of British troops. Java is the only Dutch-French colonies that have not fallen into British hands after the Isle de France and Mauritius on tahun1807. Having landed on Java and Found the old city of Batavia  an unhealthy place to live and then in 1808, Governor-General Herman Willem Daendles ordered to move the center of government to Weltervreden . Daendels decided on March 7, 1809 to build a new palace for governor generals at Weltevreden , now in Central Jakarta. At the beginning of his reign in 1809, Daendels already started to build a large and magnificent palace in Lapangan Banteng and is now used as Gedung Departemen Keuangan (the Ministry of Finance).

Gedung Mahkamah Agung is a building of Hoogerechtshof (Supreme Court) built as ordered by Herman Williem Daendels (1762-1818), the 36-Governor General in the Dutch Indies.The building lied to the north of Gedung Departemen Keuangan ( The Ex - Palace of Governor General) and now belongs to the Ministry of Finance.   This building is part of Palace of Governor General and the construction was completed in 1928 at the time of Du Bus . Inside this building there was a loji , a gathering place of the Theosofi De Ster in het Oosten or Eastern Star. Taman Impian Jaya Ancol at the Saturday Night. Ancol is a familiar name to the inhabitants of Jakarta. It is associated to an well known recreation spot, Taman Impian Ancol or the Dream Park of Ancol, in the North Jakarta. The coastal tourist area has a variety of entertainment facilities which has also been known for a long time may even before the Dutch colonial period. As a tourist area, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol was already standing since the 17th century.At that time, the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies, Adriaan Valckenier, had a very beautiful house by the beach. Over time , the area was later developed into a tourist spot. Syahbandar Menara Jakarta was built around 1839 and previously called Uitkijk or Uitkijk Post, once the watchtower for vessels entering and leaving Batavia and as a tax collector's office for goods unloaded at the port of Sunda Kelapa. Its function as a control tower terminated after 1886, when the port of Tanjung Priok was opened. The tower  actually occupies the former bastion (camp) Culemborg. The bastion was made of rock in 1645, the fortifications, part of the wall around the city of Batavia to care for the mouth of the Ciliwung River, Warehouse pepper, and Shipyard. The building of Syahbandar Tower has a dimension of 4 x 8 meters high and 12 meters. Jakarta Syahbandar tower has three rooms, namely on the ground floor, in the central part measuring 6 × 7 meters, and the top which serves as a viewing room with four windows. As we know that the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) has lots of important archives of this country. Initially, the building ANRI located in Jl.Gajah Mada, , Kota Tua or Old City , West Jakarta. In 1992 the building was moved to Jl ANRI. Ampera, Cilandak, South Jakarta. Lapangan Banteng, or Banteng Square, is a site with high historical values in Central Jakarta. It was formerly named Waterlooplein, in Weltevreden, Batavia. At that time , the Banteng Square was known as the Lion Square, because in the middle of it stood a battle victory memorial in Waterloo, with a lion on it. As it is known that the battle of Waterloo occurred on June 18, 1815 near the town of Waterloo, about 15 km after the capital of Belgium, Brussels. As Napoleon's final battle againts an allay of the British - Dutch - German . The battle was also recorded in history as the ending of a hundred days since the flight of Napoleon from the island of Elba. Meanwhile, the Lion Monument was established in the era of Japanese occupation (1942-1945). After Indonesia's independence, it was renamed as Lapangan Banteng.

When you are looking for an art performance theater in Jakarta,  Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ), or Jakarta Art Performance Theater is a good choice. Besides enjoying art performance where artists from all over the archipelago show art performances  such as drama, theater, film, literature, and so forth , you can also learn a lot from its past as it has a long history dating back from the British occupation in Indonesia.  The idea to build a theater in Batavia (now Jakarta) back in 1814 when the British occupied the island of Java. Governor Sir Stamford Raffles was aware that British soldiers should have a place of entertainment, and eventually built a building with a capacity of 250 people. The building was unimpressive as it made of bamboos, and officially opened on October 27, 1814. This form of theater was far from good but  achieved its objectives as an  entertainment building first  entertaining British soldiers . When the Dutch came and colonized Batavia, the entire
